Petspiration Spotlight: Tommy

Tommy is a former feral cat. He had been hanging out in my community. I was told he was born to a feral cat; no one could catch him to neuter. My own cat had just passed away. I left food for him in my backyard trying to befriend him. One day, he came running around the backyard at full speed. Behind him were three coyotes (sub-adults). He ran up my porch steps, onto my porch, then into my den. He decided to stay awhile, especially after he saw a litter box and a buffet! He adores his litter box. I took him to the Spay & Neuter Clinic and got him neutered and scanned (no chip was found). They said he was between four to six years old. He now sleeps in my bed at night, allows me to pick him up, and has learned to purr. He can be very affectionate to me and my roommate but has retained some of his wariness around other people. He brings live gifts of baby rabbits, lizards, birds, and, last week, a mouse into my home in a form of gratitude for his safekeeping.
