Greyson, formally named Blue, was a 7-week-old GSD that a family had bought from a breeder in South Carolina. When they had him, during the first week, they contacted me to ask if I offered board and train services. He was a bit high-strung. I told them that at that age I could help with training, but that age was formative. I offered to do a couple of weeks of obedience classes to get started. They said they would get back to me. Three days later, they called and asked if I would just take him, as he was more than they could handle. So, 1 week and 3 days was all they could manage. I agreed to allow them to surrender him to me, and the bond was immediate! This puppy wanted a job. At 10 weeks old, we were in our first tracking class in West Virginia, and two and a half years later, we were in a search and rescue team, specializing in wilderness live find and water recovery scent. At 6.5 years old, I lost my best friend to a hemorrhagic tumor. Rest in peace, Grey Bear. 7/6/2022. I miss him every day.
